LLAMAS ARE DESCENDED FROM WILD GUANACOS
Llamas were domesticated around 6,000 to 7,000 years ago and are descended from a wild species called guanacos which are part of the camelid family found only in South America. Here is a photo of a guanaco mother and her child in their South American landscape home of Chile.
